For the 4 past months, Edge and Booker T have battled endlessly over the Intercontinental and US belts. When the draft occured they both ended on Raw and resumed their everlasting feud. Their feud was so intense that eventually Bischoff decided to put them in a best out of 7 series for both titles. Edge was declared the winner and holder of both the US and Intercontinental championships. Shortly after, Vince McMahon sent Edge to Smackdown! with both titles but mentioned that Edge will have to defend his Intercontinental belt against a Raw superstar at the King Of The Ring.

It was naturally that Booker T went to see the GM of the night, Chris Jericho, to do him the favor to book him against Edge for the PPV. Y2J accepted and Booker T was thus designed as the Raw representant to get a title back to Raw.
