8 CHALLENGERS, 1 WILL SURVIVE THEM ALL!

8 of the best wrestlers the company has to offer advanced to the quarter finals of the King Of The Ring tournament. Among them, 4 are coming from Raw and 4 from Smackdown! thus for the first time ever since the brand extension, Raw and Smackdown! superstars will have the opportunity to battle each other. Nevertheless, for most of them what matters most is not much the honor of being crowned King of the Ring but the right to earn a title shot against the Undisputed Champion and many have entered this tournament just for this opportunity. Indeed, the winner of this year's King Of The Ring will be granted the right to face the Undisputed Champion whenever and wherever he wants!

Who out of these eight potential challengers will become the number one contender to the Champion's gold...will it be:

Shawn Michaels: Since his return HBK has been undefeated scoring an impressive victory against Big Show at Backlash and being the first to qualify for the tournament in defeating Booker T. Michaels has the experience and stamina recquired to last up to the final round and win it. Nevertheless, what would happen if he becomes the King and Triple H remains the Undisputed Champion...will it mean the end of DX once and for all...

Randy Orton: This up and coming superstar has been full of surprises to say the least. Even though Orton has just started with Raw this past May, he has an impressive win-loss record and his last victory to date was none other than the upset of the month when he pinned Brock Lesnar one on one. Will Orton create another upset in becoming this year's King of the Ring?

Chris Jericho: Mr Ratings, as he likes to call himself, has managed to turn Raw with the help of his "sweetheart" Trish into his yard. These days, Raw definitely is Jericho and Bischoff recently proved this when he gave Jericho the opportunity to be the General Manager of Raw for one night. During this night, Jericho won his qualifying match for the King of the Ring with a victory over Rob Van Dam (though he wanted to face Jim Ross instead). Having been defeated for the title at Backlash in the Hell in a Cell match, Jericho has done his best since that day to get it back from the one who has "stolen" it from him still according to him and thus entered the King of the Ring for the opportunity to meet the champion one more time. Will this determination be sufficient enough for Jericho to prove his statement when he says he is the "King of the World"? One shouldn't also forget about the Trish factor always at his side...

Brock Lesnar: This impressive rookie has crushed and destroyed everything that got in his way. In less than 2 months he won his first championship, the Hardcore title, and was very close to score a victory on the reigning Undisputed Champion. With a victory in this year's King of the Ring things might turn different if Lesnar meets Triple H one more time. Brock is a mastodon to be feared in this tournament as he is able to quickly end a bout with his dreaded F-5...is there only someone able to stop the ascension of this monster?

Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Texas Rattlesnake is back once again in the tournament that saw the birth of the Austin 3:16 era. This time however, Austin has nothing to prove and is only there for one reason and one reason only, to become the Champion once again and if he has to go through the King of the Ring for that he's ready to kick as many asses as needed to achieve that goal. Will history repeat itself and see the coronation of Stone Cold Steve Austin...once again?

Scott Hall: The Bad Guy is back in black, even though he has always been unlucky in King of the Ring tournaments, he is well decided to win this one. Just like Michaels, Hall is a veteran who possesses the experience recquired to be a real threat to his opponents...but if these two were to collide it would certainly bring back some good memories in the fans' minds. Nevertheless, Hall finds himself in the same tough situation as Michaels, what would happen if he were to win the tournament while Hogan or Rocky becomes the new Undisputed Champion...is the nWo on the verge of self-destruction?

John Cena: The new rookie of Smackdown! has been quite rapidly placed under the spotlights starting a feud against Angle which eventually involved Benoit and Flair. Even though he has lost his battle to Angle, Cena has learnt a lot from these fights and is now more confident than ever in his ability to win the King of the Ring. Cena is really expecting to meet Randy Orton somewhere down the tournament being eager to see who's the best rookie of the two. Just like Orton, Cena might seem like an underdog in this tournament but just like he surprised everyone in advancing the tournament with a victory over Kane he could definitely surprise the fans one more time in becoming the new King of the Ring...

Chris Benoit: Mr 100%. Benoit has been on a roll since the draft being the only Smackdown! superstar to have a 100% win record defeating and making submit everything in sight with his infamous Crippler Crossface. Even though Angle denies this fact, Benoit is definitely the best technical wrestler and as a matter of fact best overall wrestler on Smackdown! if not in the all WWE and he challenges anyone in this tournament to prove him wrong. Recently he even made The Rock tap out...what if these two emerge victorious and have to face each other in the near future for the gold...

No matter who wins this tournament, he will definitely deserve the title of King of the Ring and is sure to pose some serious threat to the Champion's reign whomever he might be after this night!
