An ad for the King Of The Ring praising the 3 current Smackdown! superstars listed for the event aired before the show. The segment ended with the mention 'this ad had been generously by the General Manager of Smackdown! Stephanie'. All of a sudden, the name Stephanie was red sprayed to be replaced by Lita's as well as an nWo stamp.

Smackdown!'s self-proclaimed General Manager Lita was seen in her new GM office -with her servant Stephanie by her side- gloating over her rival's misfortune. Lita joyfully said that she really started to appreciate being the General Managerand felt the show was getting better now that she was in charge. Lita added mischievously that she also loved all the privileges going with it, like being served (saying that while patting Stephanie on her cheek) and also getting classy clothes. To add insult to injury, she asked Stephanie if she didn't mind her borrowing, well, taking, all her garments since after all, a wench like Steph doesn't deserve to wear such chic clothes. Steph did not answer but looked down on the verge of crying. The General Manager stated that there needed to be an nWo member in the KOTR tournament that's why, to be sure there is one, tonight two nWo members will face each other: Kevin Nash and Scott Hall! Lita continued saying that tonight will be a night to remember as Stephanie shook in fear expecting the worst from her enemy.
Backstage, watching on a monitor, Stone Cold Steve Austin said to himself 'Hell yeah, you're sure to remember this night'...

1) Scott Hall defeats Kevin Nash with the Outsider's Edge and becomes the last member of Smackdown! to enter the KOTR tournament. At the end of the match, there was no hard feelings and the two competitors shook hands.

Lita walked down the aisle and stepped into the ring that was red carpeted for the occasion. Inside the ring was a wooden desk with two chairs on each side. Lita announced that she is a person who likes to take measured risks and who doesn't like surprise at all. That's why she has to do whatever it takes for her to keep this pleasant way of life. At the King Of The Ring, she said, there will be a General Manager versus General Manager match pitting Eric Bischoff against then Smackdown! GM Stephanie McMahon. She then reminded the audience that the winner of this match will be granted s/he wants from the other GM...And she pretty knows what Stephanie would ask if she was declared the winner: a championship match against her! See, Lita said showing her championship belt, this belt symbolizes Stephanie's freedom or slavery, her fate depends on the person who posseses it. If she were to have it again she would be free but that ain't gonna happen as she likes too much having Stephanie grovelling in front of her. That's why she will make sure Stephanie never asks that...in making her sign a contract! Lita then called for her servant to join her in the ring. Stephanie's music hit and she stepped in the ring to stand by her boss. Lita told Steph that time is precious so let's not waste some precious minutes of her show, she said. Lita ordered Stephanie to sit down and sign the paper at once. Steph sat, took the pen but did not wanted to sign. Steph turned ehr head toward Lita and told her that there is no way she would let escape this only opportunity for her to be free again. She don't mind being punished or being abased by Lita if that's the price to pay for her defiance but she won't sign that contract! Lita mockingly said that her little slave girl had still some character left in her but it won't last long as she vows to break her psychologically for good! Whether she wants to sign or not she will. Hardly had she finished her sentence that the nWo ran to the ring. Stephanie got up and tried to attack Lita with the pen only to have her wrist caught by Nash. Hall and Nash restrained her while Lita slapped her several times to finally applied her Twist Of Fate! She then instructed all the rest of her crew to 'have fun' with Steph. Hence, Nash gave Stephanie a Jackknife Powerbomb, Hall gave her an Outsider's Edge, The Rock a People's Elbow and Hogan his patented Leg Drop. Steph looked like a rag doll completely disarticulated! Finally, Nash and Hall carried an unconscious Stephanie to the desk, placed the pen in her hand and made her sign the paper. They all had a good laugh and left behind their way a devastated Stephanie.


2) Hollywood Hogan defeats Edge with the Hollywood Legdrop in a controversial match . Indeed, Edge first won the match after a Spear on Hogan but Lita arrived and said that Hogan's foot was on the ropes. Even though she was the only person in the building who saw that, she ordered the match to continue. Being distracted by Lita, Edge soon lost to Hogan. Proud of her mischief, Lita celebrated with Hogan unaware that Edge just got up and in the Spear stance. When she realized that on the Titantron and turn back to see if she was not dreaming, it was already too late as an angry Edge gave her the most devastating Spear ever.

After the commercial break, Lita was seen in the medical facility of the building holding her stomach. The head doctor told all his assistants to leave them alone. Lita complained telling him that a person of her status should be assisted by several doctors, and not only several but the best of the country if not the world! To this the doctor told her to stop her whining as it reminded him the bitchy Steph but only in worse! Lita was shocked to hear a doctor addressing her that way and asked him if he knew who she was. The doctor answered that he sure knew who she was but the real question was if she knew who he was. Lita replied that she doesn't give a damn about unsignificant being like doctors. The doctor said she should and of course Lita asked why. The doctor simply replied 'Because Stone Cold said so!' Lita was shocked as the doctor removed his mask to show the audience that he was indeed Steve Austin. Stone Cold playfully pressed on Lita's belly asking her if it was there that she got hurt. Lita screamed yes and Austin sadistically continued pressing elsewhere in the same area. All of a sudden, Austin took a remote control and wondered what the button was for. Lita begged him not to press it and Stone Cold asked her if it was that button that he shouldn't press because if so, oops, it was too late. The bed brutally folded in two with Lita screaming inside. Austin left laughing.



3) Victoria defeats Jazz with the Widow's Peak and becomes the last diva from Smackdown! to enter the QOTR.

Backstage, Edge was still furious and was smashing everything in his sight. Several members of the staff ran away when they saw Edge's anger. Edge kept screaming he had been screwed and want a rematch! Suddenly he met Kane and the two stared at each other for a while. Without a word and almost at the same time they started throwing punches at each other and security had to separate them.
Triple H made his way to the ring and started cutting a promo on the King Of The Ring. However, shortly after the beginning of his speech, X-Pac as well as the rest of the nWo interrupted him telling him that he was boring them and the audience to death with his monologues. If he thinks he is so great why didn't he prove that with actions instead of words, X-Pac said challenging his former friend. Triple H answered he couldn't wait to get his hands around this little traitor's neck and accepted the challenge.

4) Triple H defeated if not executed in less than 2 minuted X-Pac with the Pedigree much to the shock of the remaining nWo members.

Backstage, The Rock congratulated Hogan for his victory over Edge but teased him saying that tonight he would show him how to win a match without controversy and why he is the one that should be the Champion after the King Of The Ring. Hogan was burning with rage but managed to calm down only looking at The Rock walking away for his upcoming match against Benoit.

5) Chris Benoit defeats The Rock with the Crippler Crossface much to the delight of Hollywood Hogan.

During the match, Lita came back to support The Rock and to try to use her influence to make him win the match like she did with Hogan earlier in the night. However after the match was done, she only managed to receive a Crippler Crossface, followed by a F-U from John Cena who also came to avenge Stephanie and to make Lita pay for the way she treats the Smackdown! superstars. Eventually, the glass shattered and Stone Cold joined the 'little party' and gave Lita a 'Stunner' making sure she would remember that night! Benoit, Cena and Austin celebrated in drinking beers. However they soon realized they were all participants of the KOTR tournament and stared at each other with a new animosity.
